  • Improved AI translations in all three translation modes, with lower prices for Paragraph and Structured modes:
    • Paragraph: translations stay better aligned with their subtitle timings, especially where a sentence spans several rows, and cost about 10% less.
    • Per-Line: fixed an issue where a period could sometimes appear at the end of a line that continues on the next row.
    • Structured: more reliable results with supported models, and now priced close to Paragraph mode, as the AI no longer repeats the original text in its reply.

Is it free to use?

Yes, you can translate with Google Translate completely free. Nearly every AI translator (GPT, Gemini, Claude, DeepL and more) also has a free demo that translates up to 50 lines, so you can try it on your own file before paying.

For full AI translations you pay as you go, per file, either with PayPal or from a pre-loaded balance. There's no subscription required.

Which translator gives the best results?

It depends on the language pair, and even on the kind of dialogue. Paid AI translators usually give more natural, contextual translations than the free ones, but no single model wins every time.

The best way to decide is to try it: upload your file, pick a translator, choose the free demo, and compare the results side by side in the editor.

Are my subtitle files private?

Your files are processed securely and are never used to train public AI models. Anonymous uploads are removed right after your session, while files for signed-in users are kept for up to 30 days so you can download them again.

Some lines came back empty, untranslated or misaligned. What can I do?

AI models occasionally drop the hidden markers used to map the translation back to each subtitle line. The editor has two tools for quick fixes: shift a block of lines up or down, and re-translate selected lines for free.

My translation failed. Was I charged?

No. You're only charged after a translation succeeds. Most failures are temporary, so retrying usually works. If you were charged for a failed translation, send me the order number or file name and I'll sort it out.

Why sign in and top up a balance?

Signing in with Google is optional. It removes ads, gives you access to your past paid translations, and unlocks plan discounts. A pre-loaded balance also skips the per-payment PayPal fees, which can cost more than a small translation itself.

Can I get my unused balance back?

Yes. Use the refund button next to your balance, choose the amount and confirm. The refund is processed straight away, though it can take 1 to 2 days to show in your PayPal account.

Can I give the AI extra instructions, like a more casual tone?

Yes. You can add your own notes to the AI prompt, for example to keep names untranslated or use a more natural, colloquial style. Here's how.
